Why I do this

Artist Statement

In my personal practice, I am dedicated to speaking to the impact politically-constructed identities have on me and my communities. I tell stories because I learned from thought-leaders like Audre Lorde that Your Silence Will Not Protect You. I believe we all have a story to share, we just need to figure out how to tell that story and who to share it with. My approach to every aspect of theater is collaborative and community-centered. I see my role as one of service. I am here to do this work because I feel compelled to do so and I want to be a part of stories that I find to be deeply moving and compelling OR I wanna have fun. Sometimes I’m lucky, and I get to do both!
